Billie Jean “Jeanie” Brown
August 9, 1944 – November 20, 2024
Billie Jean “Jeanie” Brown, 80, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, surrounded by her devoted husband of 62 years and her loving children and grandchildren.
Born on August 9, 1944, in Springfield, Missouri, to William L. Hope and Betty Hope, both of whom preceded her in death, Jeanie was a beloved wife, mother, grammy, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She is survived by her husband, David Brown; her children, Denean Pryor (Darren) and John Brown (Terri); and her cherished grandchildren, Rylan Pryor (Ariel), Jordan Pryor, Cole Pryor, Hunter Brown (Allie), Stephanie Wallace (Mark), Hannah Brown and bonus grandchild Kaycee Gerald. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty June Layton and Karen Hope, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, William “Butch” Hope.
Jeanie was a caregiver by nature, dedicating her life to supporting and loving those around her. After many years of hard work in manufacturing, she retired from American Laundry in 1994 and began her favorite role—helping to raise her grandchildren. Her grandkids were her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing them.
Jeanie had a passion for serving others, often expressing her love through cooking, baking, and feeding everyone around her. She also loved gardening, sharing the beauty of her flowers and the bounty of her vegetables with family and friends.
Later in life, Jeanie discovered her love of golf, playing weekly in ladies’ league with her “girls” and couples league with her husband, even taking along her grandkids if needed. She was especially proud of her hole-in-one on Hole 6 at Green Hills Golf Course—a story she never let her husband forget.
Jeanie and David enjoyed traveling, golfing, and spending weekends at the lake while raising their family. She rarely missed her grandchildren’s events, attending ball games, gymnastics meets, dance recitals, musical performances, and more. Her unwavering love and support touched countless lives and will be remembered forever.
The family finds peace in knowing Jeanie was saved and baptized as a child and takes comfort in the promise of being reunited with her in Heaven one day.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at The Arbors by Lakeside and the team at Season’s Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 23 from 5 to 7 pm, and the funeral will be on Monday, November 25 at 10 am, both at Greenlawn North. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeanie’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association to help in the fight against this terrible disease.
