Carolyn was born January 15, 1935, to Alpha Marie (Warren) Rimer and Foister Stephen (FS) Rimer in Jonesboro, AR. She passed away peacefully February 11, 2025, at the age of 90. Her husband of 70 years was, as always, by her side.
Carolyn’s family moved numerous times through several states and remembered fondly her time spent in Arizona. The family ended their moves in Mount Vernon, MO before Carolyn’s senior year. It was during her senior year she noticed a young man, Archie Kane, from the school bus. She decided he was hers. He didn’t stand a chance, and they were married two years later.
Carolyn and Archie moved to Springfield, MO so Archie could finish college. After finishing college they spent a brief time in DeSoto, MO. Carolyn performed factory work while Archie began his teaching career. The couple moved back to Springfield where they started their family.
Their son, Stephen, was born in 1958. Six years later Carolyn had a daughter, Cynthia. Carolyn was a stay-at-home mom who devoted herself to raising and educating her two children during their early childhood. When Cynthia started second grade, Carolyn began her career as a school cook. She became a supervisory school cook, the position from which she retired.
Carolyn was involved in her church; first 2nd Baptist, then Broadway Baptist, and finally National Heights Baptist Church. She taught children’s Sunday School for many years and was involved in Bible School in various capacities.
After retirement Archie and Carolyn moved to Seasons Three, a 55 and older community. There they made many new friends and enjoyed a full life.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Archie, her son Stephen (Brenda), her daughter Cynthia Reed (Jeff). Her three granddaughters, Heather Kohler (Ben), Jillian Stracke (Levi), and Cerise Reed. And her four great grandchildren, Archie Kohler, Emma Stracke, August Kohler, and Ivy Kohler.
She was also survived by her five siblings, Barbara Smith (Dee dec’d), Betty Butler (Ray), Peggy Millenbruck (Mel), Sharron Law (Sam), and Gary Rimer (Judy).
A quote from her brother,
“…Carolyn, a loving wife to her high school sweetheart, Archie. Carolyn was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is greatly loved by her family and friends.
She is now enjoying the glory of heaven because of her faith in Jesus her Savior.”
