Beverly Sue (Holloway) Sissel “Mimi”, 88 of Springfield, left this life for her heavenly home, Tuesday morning, February 11, 2025 at Ozark Nursing Care Center. She was born November 11, 1936, daughter of the late George and Gretta Holloway. She was raised in Springfield, MO and attended Springfield High School.
Beverly was united in marriage to Marvin Lee Sissel on January 5, 1951 in Harrison, Arkansas. Beverly and Marvin shared 56 years together before Marvin’s death on September 17, 2007. They began their married life living in Springfield, later moving with their three children to the Rogersville area where they lived for 50 years.
Beverly was employed at Lilly Tulip and retired after 30 years of service. Later in life, Beverly attended classes, received certification in the tourism industry, and began a second career as a travel agent. Beverly loved to travel and enjoyed helping her clients make their vacations special. Through her work and love of travel, she traveled to Japan, Costa Rica, the Panama Canal, the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands, Alaska, and most of the United States.
Beverly had many interests and hobbies; she especially enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, and sharing her dishes with family and friends. Her pies, banana bread, and orange knot rolls will be missed by all. Following a family tradition, Beverly learned to quilt and hand quilted many beautiful quilts for family and friends. Her quilts would also win prizes in local fairs. Nothing however brought her more joy and fulfillment than cheering on her children and grandchildren in whatever activity that they participated in. Beverly loved her family and was a devoted mother, who loved to dote on her grandchildren and her great-grandchild.
Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lee Sissel; son, Randy Lee Sissel; father, George R. Holloway; mother, Gretta M. Holloway; brother-in-laws, Oscar T. Hicklin, Lloyd Sissel (Eva Lee), Dale Sissel (Vergie); sister-in-laws, Opal Sissel Sanders (Oran), and Gladys Sissel Young (Woodrow). She is survived by and forever remembered by her son, Anthony Sissel (Bobby Frazier) and daughter Delana Sissel Bryant (Carnell). Other survivors include her grandchildren, Renee Hickman (Daniel Morris), Jaime Sissel; and her great-grandchild, Judah Morris. Beverly is also survived by her sister, Janus Hicklin; extended family Rita and Tom Duncan with children John and Liz, and her many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 am, Monday, February 24 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Compassus Living Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
