Velma Marie (Carney) Starr, daughter of Loran Franklin and Lora Ethel (Melton) Carney, was born on March 26, 1930, in Ozark, Missouri. She married Wendell Glenn Starr on August 6, 1949 and they remained married until his passing in September, 2006.

Velma leaves two sisters; May of Union, Missouri, and Juanita of Wausau, Wisconsin, and three sons; William of Competition, Missouri, Mark and Karon of Bolivar, Missouri and Sam and Angie of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 11 great- great-grandchildren.

She loved quilting, art, gardens and crafts, anything to keep her hands busy. She will be dearly missed by all.

A graveside service for Velma Marie Starr will be on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at Highlandville Cemetery in Highlandville, Missouri. A visitation will be held at Pitts Chapel Bolivar, Missouri on Sunday, May 11from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Online condolences may be left at Greenlawnfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel , Bolivar, Missouri.
