Glen Edgar Giboney was born December 1, 1948, in Springfield, MO., to parents Carl and Mabel Giboney. He attended Central High School, graduated in 1966 and went to Southwest Missouri State University where he graduated in 1970.
On April 18th, 1970, he married Mary Elizabeth Pippin. They were married 55 years, celebrating that event in April 2025.
As a young man, Glen enjoyed outings at Bull Shoals Lake, being active in his church and joining the family’s love of antique cars.
He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine. He joined the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Clown Unit in 1974, and was especially proud of the opportunity to clown for the Crippled Children’s Shrine Hospital in St. Louis.
In later years, after moving back to the Ozarks from Kirksville, MO., he was an active member of the Sparta Masonic Lodge until ill health.
Glen had worked with his father and brother, Joe, at Giboney Roofing Company until the 1980’s. After the company was dissolved, Glen went back to school, earning his Masters Degree at Southwest Missouri State University. He was then employed at Truman University in Kirksville, MO. He taught classes in finance, marketing and accounting for 22 years. He also served as the Director of the Small Business Development Center at Truman.
His students loved his sense of humor, wild Tabasco ties, and encouragement to succeed in life.
After retiring in 2008, Glen and Mary moved to Nixa, MO., where he finally had the time to read as many books as he could including history, biographies and current politics. Crossword puzzles became a daily routine–the tougher the better.
He loved cooking Italian and Cajun dishes for family and friends. And he was always ready for a game of Trivial Pursuit. It was impossible to beat him.
After many bouts of ill health, Glen became a resident of Nixa Nursing and Rehab in March 2023. There he had excellent care, and the staff became extended family. He passed away on October 7, 2025, leaving an empty spot on this Earth, but a welcomed addition in Heaven.
