Jackie “Jack” Monroe Slagle, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Brighton, MO, passed away suddenly at his home, on May 3, 2026, at the age of 88 years. He was born August 28, 1937, in their family home where he learned the values that shaped his life.
Jack spent his days working in a turkey processing plant for 46 years. In that time, he went from picking seed out of cotton to production supervisor over a multi-operational company. He was known for his patience, generosity and just plain ornery.
Jack found joy, peace, and fun when fishing and hunting with friends and family. Jack served as District Deputy Grand Master and was the only member to have served over 50 years in the Pleasant Hope Masonic Lodge # 467. He received his 32nd degree from the Scottish Rites with the Valley of Joplin, and was also a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shriners of Springfield, MO. These times were the heartbeat of his days and made memories to visit for years to come.
Those who carry his memory forward include a daughter and her husband Jim and Debi Bayer of Brighton, a daughter Donna Slagle of Pleasant Hope; grandsons: Dustin Osborn of Morrisville, and James Bayer of Brighton; step granddaughter Cassidy Bayer of Fair Play; nephew Dean Revels and wife Margaret of Brighton, and nephew John Robert Revels of Morrisville; as well as several other relatives and friends.
He is welcomed into rest by his wife of 64 years Atha; his father Herman Lester “Jack” and mother Sarah Lucinda “Sadie” (Erwin) Slagle; a brother James Mitchell; and a sister Jo Marie Revels.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Pitts Chapel, where friends and family will gather to share stories, shed tears, and honor a life well lived. A Masonic service, as well as the Rose Croix will be held Friday, May 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Slagle Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO.
May the memory of Jack settle gently over those who loved him, like evening light across an old barn – warm, familiar, and never truly gone!
