Charles “Chuck” T. Helmich, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, in San Diego, California. He was born in Rolla, Missouri, on September 25, 1945, to Charles and Catherine Helmich. Charles lived and worked in the construction business in San Diego for more than fifty years. He was a devoted fan of the San Diego Padres and Chargers. During his time in California, Charles made many lifelong friends, especially Gordon Barrows and Jimmy Parks, and so many others.
Charles leaves behind his beloved son, Thom and his wife, Lori Haven; sister, Linda Schwanz; sister, Cheryl Hurst; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. He was flown back to his grass roots of Missouri where he will be laid to rest at Rivermonte Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
Charles loved the Lord and left this life bound for Heaven. He will forever be loved and missed by his family and friends.
Charles will be laid to rest on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, 11:00 am, at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri, with pastor Ron Jones of New Hope Baptist Church officiating. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at High Seas in San Diego, California, and will be hosted by Renee Karras and Joann Vermillion. Rest in peace, Chuck.
Arrangements are under the compassionate direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center in Ozark, Missouri.
