Kathy Darlene Payne, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at the age of 69. She was born on February 3, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas, to Chuck Bridgeman and Faye George.

Kathy met the love of her life, Michael Payne, while working at Hamby’s in Springfield. Kathy worked as a waitress while Michael worked in the kitchen. Their friendship soon blossomed into love, and the two were married in 1992. Together, they shared many wonderful memories and adventures.

Kathy and Michael especially enjoyed riding their Harley-Davidson together, with Kathy happily riding in the sidecar. They loved taking trips and exploring places just a few hours away, enjoying the open road and the time they spent together. Kathy was known for being ornery, and her playful personality brought laughter and plenty of memorable moments to those who knew and loved her.

Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Payne, and her mother, Faye George.

She is survived by her children, Mike Bridgeman, Kim Bridgeman, Kristen Crane, and Micah Gugel; her sisters, Connie Johnson and Michelle Dunlap; her grandchildren, Mandi, Alex, Dylan, Fionna, Keltin, Elizabeth, and Zach; 5 great-grandchildren; and her best friend, Tonia Brown. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held on September 30, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Her funeral service will be held on October 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial to follow at Eastlawn Cemetery.
