Ada Emogene Smith Hartman Beasley Clark, age 94, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, at Birch Point Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born on August 4, 1929, in Springfield, Missouri to Mildred Arnall Smith. Emogene was a 1947 graduate of Central High School.
On March 30, 1963, she was united in marriage to James Freddie Clark. They went on boundless adventures and shared a life of love and happiness for over 52 years before his untimely passing on March 6, 2016.
Emogene was a restaurateur and successfully owned and operated Big Boys Barbeque with her mother. Their shared recipes for BBQ ribs and homemade pies were always customer favorites. She was also the hostess and manager for The Grove Supper Club in Springfield for ten years.
Besides her career Emogene loved working in her garden, canning, baking, and always trying new recipes for her neighbors and friends. She was also an avid bowler with numerous trophies and awards. She also loved trips to the lake and water skiing when she was younger.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; her mother, Mildred; her son, Gary; and a grandson, Matthew.
Emogene is survived by her extended family, Terre (Lyman) Frank of Marionville, Missouri, Sharon Clark, Carthage Missouri, and Lisa Taylor, Holts Summit, Missouri; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest with her husband, James, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
