Mrs. Jeanette McGhee, age 91 of Greenfield, MO, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Citizens Memorial Hospital Bolivar, MO.   She was born July 12, 1932, in White Springs, FL, to Luther P. and Addie May (Norris) Bryan.  She was united in marriage to Walter Ray McGhee November 2, 1973.

          Jeanette loved to bake, garden, and her horses.  She would make her own cinnamon rolls, homemade cream pies, orange-slice and carrot cakes.

She worked as a waitress at Sambo’s Restaurant in California for many years, then moved to Prescott, AZ, and opened up her own restaurant “Jan’s Café”.

          She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter; two daughters: Judy Darly and Robin Repp; one son Glenn Thorpe; one great granddaughter Hope Renee Kennon; three sisters and two brothers.

          Jeanette is survived by her daughter Janice Thorpe Branine and husband Dennis of Greenfield, MO; a daughter in-law Donna Thorpe of Kent, TX; nine grandchildren: Paul Kennon, Jr., Jodie Gregg, Johnny Kennon, Joey Kennon, Glenn Thorpe, Jr., Julie Thorpe, Dedee Kelcee, Roy Kelcee, and Tawnya Thorpe; 25 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. 

        Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Pitts Chapel.  Graveside services will take place Friday, December 15, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Liberty Cemetery Everton, MO.  Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are asked to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO.
