Larry & Alma Irene lived their life to the fullest while raising two sons and a daughter and later embracing the joy of becoming grandparents to six and great-grandparents to ten.
Alma Irene made her profession of faith in Christ at the age of seven and was baptized by Rev. Wayne Rosecrans. From that moment, she became a dedicated member of North National Boulevard Baptist Church, where she had attended since birth. Her commitment to her faith and church community was unwavering as she remained active at Boulevard Baptist Church for over 67 years. Alma Irene’s story is a beautiful testament to a life lived with purpose and dedication to her beliefs.
Her church was a very important part of her life, and she cherished the friendships she made while serving in the women’s Rebekah Sunday School class and singing in the Chancel Church Choir. In addition to her church activities, Alma Irene was deeply committed to her children’s education, first serving as a homeroom mother before being elected president of the Pepperdine Elementary PTA. In her leadership role, she worked tirelessly to strengthen connections between families and the school, organizing annual events such as the chili suppers, craft fairs, and cake walks. These gatherings brought students, parents, and teachers together, fostering a strong sense of community. She briefly worked at Sears and Ben Franklin, but her greatest joy was being a devoted homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for her family.
One of Alma Irene’s most cherished traditions was the Reynolds family Christmas pizza party and gift exchange. It was a time she anticipated each year, bringing together loved one’s to share laughter, joy, and the warmth of the season. She found happiness in planning and preparing for the celebration, ensuring everyone felt welcome and that special memories were made. Christmas in her home was more than decorations and gifts—it was about family, love, and the spirit of togetherness. She created moments that would be remembered in the hearts of those she held dear, giving each person a lasting reason to celebrate the season.
At her passing, Alma Irene was filled with love and peace as she said her goodbyes to her immediate family. Her favorite Bible verse, Ecclesiastes 3:1-7 reflects her deep faith and wisdom. “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” This verse beautifully tells the circle of life and the belief that every moment has its purpose. Alma Irene’s life was a testament to this, filled with love, service and devotion to her family and community. Her legacy continues to inspire and comfort those who knew her.
