Alma Jane (Baugh) Massey passed from this life to a much better one in heaven on Thursday, May 11, 2017. She was 81 years old. She was born on July 2nd, 1935 in Black Oak, AR. She graduated from Caraway Central High School. Alma attended Arkansas College in Batesville, AR and graduated with a Bachelor of English degree in 1956. While at Arkansas College she met a man named Hoyle Wallace Massey. They were married shortly after college on August 22, 1956. They would remain married and raise their family of 3 children, Lindy Massey and wife, Yvonne of Springfield, MO, Lexia Massey of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jeffrey Massey of Hilmar, CA. Hoyle and Alma celebrated 58 years of marriage in 2014, before Hoyle died in November of that year.
She was a long-time member of South Haven Baptist Church and made many lifetime friendships there. Alma taught at various schools in Missouri for 30 years, including most of those years at Logan-Rogersville High School in Rogersville, Mo.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband Hoyle Massey, parents Loris and Geneva Baugh, brother Jim Baugh, sister-in-law Helen Massey and niece Tonna (Massey) Cervantes. She is survived by her children and spouses, brother William Baugh, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Loy and Freda Massey, and brother-in-law Vernon Massey. Her grandchildren are, Summer (Massey) and Chris Bryant, Austin Massey, Shane and Brianna Nease, Taylor Guise, Brandee (Massey )and Nathan Tuck, Todd Massey, Kristee Massey, Torree Massey, and Mckenzee Massey. Great grandchildren Savannah Bryant and Kai Bryant, Ryker and Conner Nease, and Aurora Angel Guise. Alma is also leaving behind many nieces and nephews that she loved to read to. As well as many close friends, men and women she taught and coached in speech and debate and school plays.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 1:30 -3:00 p.m. with the funeral services to immediately follow at 3:00 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
