Anne Charmaine Long Davis
“If roses grow in heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me.”
Anne Charmaine Long Davis (née Long) 87, of Springfield passed away October 23, 2025 in her home surrounded by her family.
Anne was born July 30, 1938 to Helen Long-Morgan (née Wills) and Wilber DeLaney Long in Springfield, Missouri. She spent her first seven years in Springfield, attending Roundtree and Greenwood Elementary Schools. At age nine, Anne, her mother and brother moved to Douglaston (Queens), New York, where she attended P.S. 98, Bayside High School, and St. Mary’s Episcopal School in Garden City. Anne’s fondest memories of this time were with her best friend, Linda Baker Rencurrel. Anne would often recount the stories of taking trips into Manhattan to shop and take dance lessons with Linda.
Anne returned to Springfield to complete her senior year as part of the first graduating class of Parkview High School. After graduation, she attended Drury College majoring in Home Economics and the Sciences. It was on the campus of Drury College, that a pretty, smiling Anne caught the eye of an aspiring entrepreneur from Bolivar, Missouri. After a blind date mix-up and long-distance proposal, Anne married her handsome beau on October 29, 1960. The two were united in marriage at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, she taught for two years at Hurley High School in Hurley, Missouri. In 1965, Anne and Warren moved to Bolivar, Missouri. It was here that Anne and Warren carried on the Orval Davis Tire family business for over 40 years. During this time, Anne opened up her home year after year to host Holiday parties, summer picnics and international business associates, often ending in late night tennis tournaments.
While living in Bolivar, she invested her time and served her community as a member of the Missouri Women’s Federation Club (Bolivar’s 20 club), Southwest Missouri Museum Association Inc. (SMMA), Ozark’s TLC Doll Club, Bolivar’s chapter of Sweet Adaline, President of Ladies Golf Association, Supreme Chapter Sisterhood P.E.O., Bowling Team (couples and ladies), Ladies Tennis Association, P.T.A., taught Sunday school and vacation bible school at United Methodist Church of Bolivar, and substitute teacher for the elementary, junior high and high schools of Bolivar.
Anne and Warren adopted and lovingly raised two children, Mark Davis and Kimberly Dawn Davis Harrington (née Davis). The life she gave to her children may not have started in her womb, but with a conscious choice to love Mark and Kim through each beat of her heart. Anne curated a home that was a haven for her husband and her children. She was the model home room mother and enjoyed cooking and crafting, always with a nod to manners and etiquette. As Anne transitioned from mother to grandmother, she enjoyed traveling and being Nana to her two grandsons, William and Preston.
Anne was the sweetest and most generous hearted woman who has always had the world’s most beautiful smile; one cannot know her without loving her. Anne’s family and friends will remember her for her gentle and tender spirit, her infectious laugh and her joyful heart. With a quiet grin and a reassuring hand on one’s arm, she was the steady presence that held her home together. Anne found her greatest purpose in being the anchor of her family, creating a legacy of love and devotion. Anne’s family and friends will remember her as a Godly woman whose faith guided her life. She was active early in the Episcopal Church, later raising her family in the Bolivar Methodist Church, and was most recently a member of King’s Way United Methodist Church.
Anne spent her final years devoted to caring for her husband while continuing to manage her home with grace and strength. She and Warren cherished their days together, reminiscing, holding hands, and welcoming family with warmth and laughter. Her calm and loving presence will be deeply missed.
Anne is survived by her husband of 65 years, Warren Davis; son, Mark Davis; daughter, Kimberly Davis Harrington, and her husband, Patrick Harrington and two beloved grandsons, William and Preston Harrington, all of Springfield. She is also survived by her brother Mike Long and wife Cathy of Springfield; Sister-in-law Pat Long of Denver, Colorado; Sister-in-law Yvonna Davis of Springfield, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
