Arthur Daniel Burnett Jr., age 72, husband to wife Janice Burnett, father to two step-daughters, and grandfather to five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren passed away peacefully in his Springfield home on Friday, March 18th, 2022.
Arthur, or “Art” as he was often known, was born on April 26th, 1949 in Springfield, Missouri to Arthur Burnett Sr. and Betty Lou Girth. Raised alongside his siblings Diana Compton, Charles Burnett, and Steve Burnett, his beginning shaped a great man.
He’s the very same great man who, during young adulthood, went to serve in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War for four years. Afterward, going on to join the police force and then become a factory safety director, his list of accomplishments in life was extraordinary.
In all, he was a great man who enjoyed gardening, metal detecting, bird watching, and anything else that the outdoors could provide. He’ll forevermore be fondly remembered by those who love him as a dear brother, husband, and “Poppy” to his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Monday, March 21, 2022 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 West Battlefield, Springfield, MO. Graveside side services for Arthur will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, with full military honors.
