Barbara Ann Slone-Blanton, a spirited and loving soul, was born on January 9, 1938, in Beulah, Missouri to Lacy and Delpha (Cross) Brookshire, and peacefully passed away on December 24, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO. She filled her life with joy as a dedicated mother, an avid gardener, and a talented seamstress.
Barbara had a green thumb, particularly loving to cultivate beautiful peonies that brightened her garden. Her creative spirit flourished through her sewing, where she crafted beautiful clothes and stitched together cherished memories through her work. She also enjoyed making beautiful ceramics. Above all, her heart was most full when surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy.
In her journey of love, Barbara first married Kenneth Charles Slone on October 10, 1954, sharing seven wonderful children and countless cherished moments until his passing on March 24, 1988. Later, she found companionship with Thomas Blanton, and their 20 years together were filled with laughter and happiness until his passing in 2022.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, her daughter, Donna Cozort, and a grandson, Chuck Moore.
Barbara’s legacy of love and creativity will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, including her beloved children, Shirley Moore (Jim), Joyce Jarvis (Tim), Cathy Slone, Steve Slone, Mark Slone, and Sherry Jo Brower; eight grandchildren, Jesse, Jennifer, Sarah, Erika, Dylan, Lindsay, and Madison; two brothers Fred Brookshire and Ted Brookshire; 13 great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.
We invite all family and friends to join us in celebrating Barbara’s incredible life on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, North with a visitation beginning at 11:00 am and a service to follow at 12:00 pm. She will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens following the service. Let us come together to remember, celebrate, and share our fondest memories of Barbara, whose warmth and love touched everyone around her. All are welcome to share in the love that she so generously spread in her lifetime.
