Barbara Kay Brewster, 82, of Springfield, Missouri, left this Earth early in the morning of Friday, March 20th to be with her Lord and Savior. Barbara left behind an exceptional legacy and cherished memories with all who knew and loved her.

Barbara was a loving sister, daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a wonderful friend to countless others. Most importantly to Barbara, she was a steadfast follower of Jesus Christ.

Barbara was born July 30, 1943 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Arthur H. (Ott) Thomas and Vina Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Donald F. Bullard, to whom she was married for more than 30 years, her siblings Denzil Thomas and his wife Marion, Marie Branscum and her husband IB, Della Beaver and her husband Carl, Julie Bingham and her husband Roy, Ruby Goodpaster and her husband Bob, and her step-son Jeff Brewster.

Barbara single-mindedly lived her life following and sharing the teachings of Jesus with the sole purpose of staying close to Him and encouraging others to join her; a shining reflection of the love of Jesus and His reason for coming to Earth. Barbara was a devoted and cherished member of the Fordland Church of Christ who will be dearly missed by her church family there.

Barbara is survived by her husband Larry Brewster, her daughters Janie Woodson (Mark), Lori Snodgrass (Bob), Angela Ford (Ted), and Teri Haney (John), along with her grandchildren Mindy Wilber (Steve), Paul Haney (Sherry), Tim Haney, Amanda McAdams (Jon), Sam Woodson (Theresa), Ally Williams (James), Ben Snodgrass, Charlie Woodson, Sydney Boyer (Brad), Seth Ford, Brett Ford, and Clara Ford, and her great-grandchildren Noah and Joel Williams, Caroline and Andrew Wilber, Macie, Jackson and Kylie Haney, Emerson Record, Isaac McAdams and Jordyn Woodson.

Barbara retired from the United States Postal Service after 20+ years in 2003. In November 2006, she met Larry and they married in December 24, 2006. After the wedding, life took off again for her. Barbara and Larry shared many similar interests, which allowed them to click instantly. They both enjoyed traveling, car shows, visiting Branson, board games, and puzzles. They travelled the country end to end and ‘kept the road hot.’ Visiting family and friends was something they both enjoyed doing together and Larry always obliged when she wanted to visit someone (just about anywhere!).

Barbara was an excellent cook and baker, as well as an amazing seamstress. Her renowned homemade cinnamon rolls will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to try them.

The memorial service for Barbara will be held at the Fordland Church of Christ on March 28th, 2026 at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Fair Haven Children’s Home in Strafford, MO.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
