Barbara Lorraine Speir of Springfield, Missouri, passed away in her home on July 21, 2025 at the age of 85. Barbara was born to Irene Ramsey on June 20, 1940 in Whitesboro, Oklahoma. She moved to Chelsea, Oklahoma around 1952 and eventually attended Chelsea High School where she met her husband, Ronald Speir. In 1958, Barbara graduated high school and on November 8 of that year, she married Ronald Speir in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Barbara and Ronald Speir first moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1971, followed by a brief stay in Alabama before calling Springfield their home in 1978.
In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and spending time with family and friends. No one was a stranger to Barbara as she loved talking to people wherever she went. Barbara also loved to travel with her husband and meet new friends along the way. A lover of all things pink, Barbara was drawn to the pink flamingo and found herself an impromptu collector of various flamingo-inspired trinkets.
Barbara is preceded in death by her mother, Irene (Ramsey) Proctor of Chelsea, Oklahoma, her three brothers from Chelsea, Oklahoma, Ted Proctor, Jack Proctor, and George Proctor, and her grandson, Mark Speir Jr. of Springfield, Missouri. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Speir, of Springfield, Missouri, her six children, Brenda Nunnelley, Dwight Speir and his wife Frances Speir, Mark Speir and his wife Brenda Speir, Clark Speir, Randall Speir, and Heather Whitney, all of Springfield, Missouri, in addition to 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Rebecca Richey of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A visitation for Barbara Speir will be held on July 27, 2025 from 2:00 PM–4:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home South in Springfield, Missouri.
