Mrs. Barbara Sue Rountree  3/6/1937 ~ 8/30/2021

On Monday, August 30^th, 2021, Barbara S. Rountree, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away at age 84.  She was born on March 6, 1937, in Springfield, MO to Martin and Eva Abernathy.

Barbara graduated from Central High School in 1955.  On August 3, 1954, she married David L. Rountree.  They raised three boys, David Rountree Jr., Thomas, and Michael Rountree, and one daughter Patti Fraka (Rountree). Barbara helped her husband manage a mobile home park in Springfield MO. She was a member of Eastern Star and Red Hats.  Barbara moved to Nixa, MO in 1999 where she became an active member of the Nixa Church of Christ.

Barbara had a love for animals and children.  Her favorite time of the year was Christmas when she could spend time with family and donate gifts to children. She loved to collect Carousel Horses and angel statues.

Barbara was proceeded in death by her father Martin and mother Eva, her brother Martin, and two sisters Betty and Peggy, her husband David Rountree, two sons David Rountree Jr and Thomas Rountree, and grandson Jonathan Fraka.  She is survived by daughter Patti and husband Jon Fraka, grandson Jason Fraka, son Michael and wife Melissa Rountree, grandson Nicholas and granddaughter Mollie Rountree, granddaughter Missy and husband Shawn Griego, great grandchildren Gavin and Raegan Griego, niece Sharon Neimeirer, Kay Murnan, nephew Gary Neimeirer, and numerous other nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held September 7, 2021, at Maple Park Cemetery on Grand Street in Springfield, MO at 10 am.  In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
