Bettie Lucille (Swearengin) Smittle, age 90, Springfield passed away Monday, August 9th, 2021 at her daughter’s home. Bettie was born on December 16, 1930 in Springfield, MO, to Bruce and Minnie Swearengin. Bettie was united in marriage to Dwight E. Smittle on February 6, 1948.

Survivors include, a sister, Beulah Fitzpatrick; daughter Pam Hailey and husband Roger; four granddaughters Lori Moore and husband Justin, Leigh Stewardson and husband Taylor, April Algaier and husband Ted, and Tiffany Beard and husband Michael; her great- grandsons, Micheal Miller, Rylan Moore, Conner and Jake Beard, Austin, Shawn, and Tyler Algaier; and great- great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family and friends.

Bettie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dwight; two sisters, Jay and Dean; and six brothers, Vance, Clarence, Jim, Claude, Jeff, and Bill.

Bettie was a loving mother, granny and GiGi. She was a good Christian woman, and worked hard all of her life. She crocheted beautifully, one of her favorite things to do was crochet hats for children in need. In her last days, Bettie was surrounded by her loving family.

Graveside services for Bettie will be at 11am, Monday, August 16, 2021 at Eastlawn Cemetery, 2244 East Pythian Street, Springfield, MO. Memorial contributions may be made in Bettie’s name to Fair Haven Children’s Home, 3132 N. Fair Haven Loop, Strafford, MO 65757. Funeral services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home East
