Betty Jane Buttram, 94, of Springfield passed away at Spring Ridge Senior Living Center on March 26, 2023. Betty was born August 28, 1928, in Springfield, Missouri, the second of four children born to Sarah (Terhune) and Elmer Parsley.

On January 26, 1946 she married James “Ottis” Buttram. They recently celebrated 77 years of marriage.

Betty lived most of her life in Greene County. Betty and Ottis moved to a farm north of Springfield in 1955, where they worked hard for many years. She enjoyed being outdoors and working in her garden. She was fun-loving and enjoyed baking pies for her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sarah and Elmer Parsley, and her brothers, Junior and Ralph.

She is survived by her husband, Ottis, her daughter, Janice (Tom) Schulze of Springfield, and her grandchildren: Brent (Jami) Russell of Springfield and Stephanie (Tony) Gott of Joplin. She is also survived by her sister, Patty Breithaupt of Springfield, and her niece, Sherri (Terry) Bond of Springfield.

Betty was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Chance (Anne) Russell, Kelton (Maddy) Russell, Kelsey (Kyle) Houston, and Noah (Paige) Gilmore. Her beloved great-great-grandchildren are Finley Houston and Hayden Houston.

Funeral services for Betty will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
