Beverly Kay Gannon (Young) passed from this life on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in Springfield, MO after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Gannon, of Springfield; three sons and their families: Stephen and Alisa Gannon and their children Joseph, Michael, Stephanie and Natalie (Springfield); Jon and Jennifer Gannon and their children Abi and Jon Paul (Springfield); and Chris and Kristin Gannon (Strafford); her mother, Barbara (Hicks) Young; her sisters Janet (Young) Bruner, Paula (Young) Blankenship (Gary), Debi (Young) Trempy (Greg), and Robin (Young) Wulf; Rebecca (Gannon) Borgen (William) and many loving nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousin.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul J. Young; Father- and Mother-In-Law, T.E. & Flora Gannon; Sister-In-Law, Faith Truman, Brothers-In-Law, David Gannon and Phillip Gannon.
Kay was born September 24, 1948 in Springfield, MO to Paul and Barbara Young, an Assemblies of God minister. The family moved to Lake Providence, LA in 1960 to pastor First Assembly, and Kay graduated from Lake Providence High School in 1966. She attended Northeastern Louisiana University in Monroe, LA. In 1969 she moved back to Springfield. She worked for the Assemblies of God Headquarters in World Missions and the Credit Union. Through the years she worked at Great Southern Savings, Pediatric Associates, and NCO.
Kay's greatest joy was being a mother, until her grandchildren were born! She was involved in all the activities her boys participated and there were many. When her first grandchild Stephanie was born she quit working outside the home so that she could take care of her. Natalie was born 2 years later to add to the fun, with Abi joining them a year later. The final joy was a grandson, Jon Paul. Kay was there for every thing her grandchildren did and had many wonderful adventures with them.
Kay was an avid garage saler. She had an uncanny ability to find one man's trash and turn it into her treasure. She loved to turn a profit on her finds! She loved all things Coke and decorated her kitchen in the familiar red. She was an avid Hallmark ornament collector.
Memorial service will be Saturday, August 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. There will be no graveside service.
