Billie Colleen Collinson, age 99, of Springfield, Missouri, passed peacefully away on August 19, 2024. She will be lovingly remembered as a dear wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Billie was born to Louis and Edith (Vance) Montgomery on January 1, 1925, in Springfield, Missouri, where she resided the rest of her life. Billie was united in marriage to Edwin “Wayne” Collinson, who preceded her in death.
From the Montgomery side of her family, Billie inherited intelligence and a love of fun and adventure that served her well throughout life. From the Vance side, Billie inherited a strong sense of compassion, a loving attitude toward everyone, and a real talent for cooking. She loved to share her cooking with anyone who came to visit—and no one ever left her table feeling unsatisfied! The door to Billie’s home was always open to her warmth and hospitality and everyone was welcome.
Billie and Wayne enjoyed traveling extensively across the United States and around the world. They especially valued their time relaxing and fishing at Pomme De Terre state park and lake, taking cruises, and eating out at their favorite restaurants. Billie was employed by Royal McBee and Lily Tulip until her retirement. She enjoyed worshipping the Lord at Glenstone Baptist Church where she was a devoted member for many years.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Edith Montgomery; her husband, Wayne Collinson; her only brother, Lester Montgomery, and her stepson, Bill Collinson. She is survived by her son, George Elmore and his wife, Linda; niece, Sue Rantz and her husband, Donnie; Katherine Johnson and her husband, Steve; and a host of great nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A graveside service for Billie will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, 12:00 pm, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the compassionate direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri.
