Billy Ray Lewis, age 83 , of Springfield passed away Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Billy was born April 21, 1937 in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Pryor and Fannie Lewis. He was united in marriage to Nancy Belew, June 1, 1957 . Bill worked many years building highways and bridges, he later became a Diesel Mechanic , so he would not have to move his family anymore, retiring from Southwest Missouri Truck Center after 45 years of being a mechanic. Billy enjoyed watching westerns everyday. His greatest love was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Judy Moore; son, Donald Lewis; numerous grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Greninger (LeeRoy), Elva Jean Cook, (Ronnie), Margie Ruth Hudson, Eva Louise Herrel (Larry) ; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Lewis, parents, Pryor and Fannie Lewis; one brother Dallas Lewis; his faithful companion Nancy Palmer; and brother-in-law, Don Hudson.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 am-11:30 am, Friday, January 22,2021 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East . Graveside services will be held Friday, January 22nd, 2021 at 12:00pm in Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield , Missouri, with Ed Bilsland, Brian Gardner, Dallas Lewis, Gage Eiland, John Michael Cardwell, Brock Lewis, Austin Lewis, serving as pallbearers and Anthony Shover, Elyjah Lewis- Rodriguez, Houston Copas, Lucian Wallace serving as honorary pallbearers.
