Bob L. Johnson, 86, passed away on April 17, 2017.
Bob was born in Springfield, Missouri on August 10, 1930 to Barnett and Esther
Johnson. On October 23, 1948 he married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth
(Wilson) with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. The father of three sons, he
was a wonderful example of a loving husband and hardworking, godly man.
A gentle, mild mannered man, Bob could build or fix anything. He owned his own
masonry business before working for Killian Construction Company as a
construction supervisor. He was a member of High Street Baptist Church where
he had earlier served as a deacon, a missions committee member and was a
counselor in the college and career class for 15 years. He had also been part of
the Gideon ministry.
Bob is predeceased by his parents, Barney and Esther Johnson, and his son, Clay.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Beth, his sons Michael (Cindy) of Ashburn
VA and Russ (Lola) of Springfield, grandchildren Christopher, Eric, Jeffrey
(Amanda) and Laura (Shaun), great-grandchildren lan, Izzy, Addie and Max, his
sister, Ramona Palmer, and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East on Wednesday, April 19th from
5-9pm. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday,
April 20th at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Wade Chapel Cemetery, Republic, MO.
