Bobby Dean Tracy age 95 was called to his heavenly home on Friday, July 25, 2025. Bobby was the fourth of six children born to Claude and Jewell Tracy on May 3, 1930 in the little community known as Mutton Holler in rural Fair Grove Missouri.
Bob graduated from Elkland High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a mortar man during the Korean War. After his service to the country, he went to work for the Frisco railroad as part of a traveling signal crew, and then a few years later, found his true calling as a professional firefighter with the city of Springfield, where he worked for 30 years. On his days off from the fire department, he worked as a mechanic for Western Auto for over 20 years! In his early 20s, he met and later married the love of his life, Vera Ilene Sharp and this union lasted for 69 wonderful years until her passing in 2023. Together, they raised three sons, Terry, Larry and Jerry and spent many days attending Little League ball games and lots of weekends camping and boating with their neighborhood friends at Old Highway 86 Campground on Table Rock Lake, and later upon retirement they took up Crappie fishing at Truman and Pomme de Terre Lakes with the same neighborhood, friends! We were so lucky to grow up in the neighborhood that we did! We camped, boated , had fish fry’s and celebrated lots of birthdays and holidays together!Bob and Ilene were diehard St. Louis Cardinals baseball fans and also avid NASCAR fans and rooted for any driver who drove a FORD, especially their favorite driver Carl Edwards! Bob was the proverbial jack of all trades and could fix anything that was broken! Mom never had to call a repair man because she’d married the best one ever!Bobby Dean was preceeded in death by his wife of 69 years Ilene Tracy, his parents Claude and Jewell Tracy, two brothers, John and Jacob Tracy and two sisters, Tena Mae Moore, and Francis Edwards. He is survived by his son, Terry Tracy (Sherry) granddaughters Crystal Lowry (Matt), Amber Marshall (Alan), great grandson, Aidan Beck, son, Larry Tracy, and grandson, Eric Tracy and granddaughter Melissa Buff (Ancel), and son, Jerry Tracy and one brother, Donzell Tracy.A visitation for Bobby Dean will be held on Friday, August 1 from 9:30 to 11 AM at Greenlawn funeral home North with service to follow immediately at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens located on North national in Springfield Missouri. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words of support and prayers during this difficult time!
