Bobby “Bob” Lee Johnson, 75 of Springfield MO passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, February 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family in his home following an extended illness.
Bob, the son of Hubert and Rosemary (Oatman) Johnson, was born August 15, 1941 in Brookline, MO. He graduated from Central High School and attended SMSU. Bob served in the United States Army Reserve for 6 years from 1962 to 1968 and was honorably discharged at the rank of E-5 Sergeant. Bob worked for Consumer Grocery and Paul Mueller Company as an Accounts Payables Supervisor. He retired from Acro Trailer as Parts and Inventory Supervisor in 2006.
Bob was united in marriage to the love of his life Barbara Jean (Pertuche) Johnson on February 1, 1964. Together Bob and Barbara shared 53 wonderful years. To this union 3 children were born.
He was preceded in death by his dad Hubert Johnson, mother and stepfather Rosemary and Truman Conway, in-laws Lowell and Ruth Pertuche, grandparents and great grandma Ida Oatman, brothers in-law Charley Pertuche and Ray Pratt and his best friend Don Hayter.
Bob enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, playing golf, playing with his grandchildren. He liked to watch NASCAR races routing for his favorite driver Jeff Gordon.
Bob was saved at a very early age at a Bible camp in Oklahoma and was baptized in 2009. He attended Sac River Cowboy Church before his illness.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Barbara; son Bruce Johnson and wife Janet Kreifels; daughter Bobbi Johnson; son Brent and wife Lynn Johnson all of Springfield, MO. Five grandchildren: Hannah Johnson (Papa’s pretty girl); Caedman, Keagan, Cillian (Papa’s little guy helpers) and Caiolinn (Papa’s little princess) Johnson. Sister Alleen Pratt; brother and sister in-law Paul and Sharon Patterson; sister in law Sharon Pertuche. Three nieces Debbie and husband Cliff Stutz; Paula Nelson and Shari Wotring. One nephew Nathan Pertuche; four great nieces; one great nephew and one great great nephew.
Bob was a loving husband, caring Dad, fun Papa and a master snowman builder. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Greenlawn East Funeral Home Springfield MO. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:00 am also at Greenlawn East. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
