Bonnie Fern Kirksey, age 83, of Bolivar, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility. She was born September 13, 1930, in Wishart, MO, the sixth child of 8 to Okley and Ruth (Gent) Hopkins. Bonnie was a 1947 graduate of Marion C. Early High. She was married August 10, 1950, to Richard Kirksey of Aldrich, in Harrison, AR. She was a loyal hard working farmer’s wife. She was a member of the Enon Missionary Baptist Church.
Bonnie was a sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, sister in-law, she was concerned for family, and school acquaintances. She loved her family. Her day was complete knowing all that was going on with her brother and the rest of the family. She was a victim of Char Marie Tooth Disease, deterioration of the muscle, but she kept going.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard; siblings Glen Eugene, Harlan, Doyle, and Velma Hopkins, Delsena Stewart.
She is survived by one brother Stanley Hopkins and his wife Barbara of Oak Grove, MO; one sister Reva Maudetta of Fresno, CA; several Hopkins and Kirksey nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with nephews Brent Hopkins and Pastor Gary W. Stewart officiating. Friends and family may call at their own convenience Friday, August 22, 2014, from 1 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO.
