Borislav Dimov, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, crossed over to the spirit world early Monday morning. He was 35 years old and a resident of Springfield, MO. He was born on December 14, 1982 in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1997. He went on to become an incredible athlete. He played on Glendale High School's Varsity Soccer Team. As Scot McElvaine said, “He had a special knack for scoring, especially in clutch moments.” In high school, he excelled at Science and Math. His battle against the fierce disease that would, ultimately, claim his life, began in his late teens. He met the love of his life, Mikayla, in 2006. They were both students at the University of Missouri-Columbia. They were married on May 14, 2009 in Rocheport, MO. They were blessed with three wonderful children whom they were raising in Columbia, MO. Borislav's happiest moments in his adulthood were of the times he shared with his family. His wife and children meant everything to him. He enjoyed sharing his passions with them. He loved listening to music, going to concerts, playing soccer, dancing, beating everyone in limbo, and expressing his sense of humor. It was an honor to be an assistant coach for his son's soccer team. He felt pride in working to take care of his family. He cooked the majority of the dinners. He did the majority of the grocery shopping. He was always quick to be there when someone was sick or injured. He was present. His mission in life was to serve others. If anyone needed his help, he was there. He was a father to the fatherless. He was sensitive to the suffering of others. He is and will continue to be missed. The world is a darker place without his smile and laugh. He is and will continue to be loved. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Ilia Dimov & Stanka Dimova and Borislav Filipov and Anastasia Filipova. He is survived by his father, Koycho Dimov, his mother, Ivanka Dimova, his wife, Mikayla Dimov, his children: Ilia, Evela, and Luka, his grandfather-in-law, Gary Hahn, his grandmother-in-law, Louise Hahn, his father-in-law, Paul Hahn, his mother-in-law, Lillian Hahn, his brother-in-law, Grant Hahn, his sister-in-law, Maegen Hahn, his nephew, Zion Hahn, and his friends in Europe and the U.S.
Mikayla requests that anyone who wishes to do so share their memories of Borislav with his children through letters, pictures, and mementos. Please, know that Borislav is in a better place. He no longer has to suffer. His dreams live on in the lives of his children. Ilia carries his humor. Evela is introspective. Luka is always ready for adventure.
He once said: “Love allows us to find life and happiness in the darkest places, in the deepest abysses. Love can never be extinguished.” Trust that he will never truly leave us. His love has survived his physical death. He is a beautiful soul. This world is unkind. Let us try to be kinder to each other. Do not ever walk away from love.
