Brenda Kay Cagle, age 63, of Springfield, Missouri, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on May 30, 2023. Brenda was born to Kenneth and Shirley (Webster) Larimore on September 8, 1959, in Springfield. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1978. For many years, Brenda attended church at Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Fair Grove. She was blessed with two loving children, Stephanie and Jason. Brenda is best described as creative, independent, stubborn, driven, smart, generous, and loving. She leaves a legacy of great food, fun in the kitchen, and laughter around the table.
For more than 30 years, Brenda worked for Dillons, a supermarket chain with several grocery stores in the Springfield area. Throughout her career at Dillons, Brenda worked as a baker, head cake decorator, and bakery manager. Given her vast knowledge, skills, and expertise, Brenda was a valued member of several management rehab teams. As such, rehab teams were strategically placed in underperforming stores to make improvements, increase productivity, and monitor employee performance. Brenda took her job very seriously and took great pride in the work she accomplished at Dillons.
Brenda had a reputation for being a master chef. Her chicken and dumplings, cheesecakes, and canned vegetables were second to none. Whether feeding one or an entire army, every meal was cooked with love and laughter. Brenda was not only a great cook; she was also a great story teller. Guests in her home and around the table were treated with tall tales, loving advice, and fiercely defended opinions. Nothing, however, brought Brenda more joy than teaching her grandkids how to cook and can jelly. When not cooking, baking, or canning, Brenda loved to grow flowers and vegetables. Her gardens and flower beds were the envy of everyone in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. Her favorite destinations were places of warmth and sunshine, especially Mexico and the Caribbean. Other pastimes included watching the Andy Griffith Show, Street Outlaws, Duck Dynasty, and anything with her favorite actor—Chuck Norris! Brenda was also a self-taught pianist who could play just about anything.
Brenda is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Shirley Larimore; daughter, Stephanie Cagle; son, Jason Cagle and his wife, Jayme; granddaughters, Mikayla Shanks, Hannah Clifford, and Alyah Cagle; grandsons, Phoenix Cagle and Maddox Cagle; great-grandson, Drayven Noah; brother, Rick Larimore and his wife, Lisa; sister, Deb Peters and her husband, Joel; and a host of extended family and friends.
A funeral service for Brenda Kay Cagle will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, 3:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield (3506 N National Ave). Brenda will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
