Buel D. Stewart, 80, of Springfield, passed away on June 19, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 27, 1930 in Brookline, MO.
Buel graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1948 and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Hazel Boehme on January 8, 1955 in Strafford, MO. Buel was employed with Kraft Foods for 33 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Fremont Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack D. and Effie P. Stewart; siblings Jackie Mims, Morine Adams and Doyle Stewart and great granddaughter Allison Stewart.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Hazel; children David Stewart and wife Nancy of Strafford, Karen Easter and husband Craig of Springfield; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and numerous other loving relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10:00 am at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial to follow in Bass Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 6-8 pm in the funeral home.
Memorials in Buel’s name may be made to Baptist Hill Youth Camp in care of the Southern Baptist Association or Season’s Hospice.
