Carla Ann Murray, age 58, loving mother and wife, was called Home in the early hours of August 14th, 2023, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Carla was born on June 3rd,1965, in Torrance, California to the late Carl Spurgeon and Gloria Guthrie. Carla was raised in Lomita, California and grew up surrounded by her large family. She attended Lomita Elementary School, Fleming Jr. High School, and Narbonne High School.
Carla was influenced by her dad to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to others, and she incorporated that into motherhood. Words cannot begin to describe her love and devotion to her children.
Carla will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Kynn Murray, and her children Brittany Murray, Steffany (Matthew) Raduns, Nicole (Benjamin) Hopper, and Kenneth (Brittney) Harris. Carla will also be lovingly remembered by her sister Joyce (Walt) Whirry, brother Richard Spurgeon, niece Theresa (Thomas) McHenry, and many other family members, including nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carla is predeceased by her father, Carl Spurgeon, mother Gloria Guthrie, sisters Patricia Solis and Christa Fitzgerald, and nephews David Torres and Adam Cox.
Carla was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She attended the Harbor Church in Lomita, where she served in the Harbor Church children’s ministry as an assistant Sunday School teacher. Carla led a children’s devotional group for the church and children of the community. She also served as a cook for the Harbor Church Schools; a position that she cherished.
She was a warrior, a fighter, and a survivor. She conquered all with the Lord. There was no turning back for her once Jesus got a hold of her. No matter the circumstances, she trusted and had faith in Him. She never stopped praying, she never stopped sharing His love, and never stopped witnessing.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. Fond memories and condolences may be shared at https://greenlawnfuneralhome.com/obituary/carla-ann-murray/.
