Carolyn June Hoskins, a beloved mother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on February 16, 1939, in Springfield, Missouri, Carolyn dedicated her life to caring for others, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Carolyn will always be remembered as the ultimate caregiver. Her home was a haven where loved ones gathered, and no one ever left her table hungry. Renowned for her culinary talents, she delighted family and friends with her famous hot rolls, hearty chicken and dumplings, crispy fried green beans, and delectable peanut butter cookies. Her kitchen was filled with laughter and the mouth-watering aromas of home-cooked meals, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
In addition to her love for cooking, Carolyn had a knack for keeping her home welcoming and clean, armed with her favorite household cleaner—Windex! Her passion for a tidy space was matched only by her love of card games, especially Phase 10. Many relaxing afternoons were spent with family, laughter ringing as the cards shuffled and deals were made.
Carolyn held a deep faith that guided her throughout her life. She found comfort and strength in her Bible, which she cherished and read regularly. Her unwavering belief and kind spirit were evident in everything she did.
She was met in heaven by her parents, Clell and Doris Powell, her husband Leo Hoskins, granddaughter, Carolyn Mae, as well as her siblings, Bill, Ronald, Wanda & Valerie.
Carolyn will be dearly missed by her children and their spouses Lucinda and Jon Holstein, Amanda and Merle Hardecke, Delbert Hoskins, Ray and Melissa Hoskins, and Candace Shaw and Edward Draper, who carry forward her legacy of love and care. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Keith, Nick, Logan, Kendra, Joseph, Melinda, April, Ariel, Randy, Joe, and Austin; as well as ten great-grandchildren Hadley, Tykia, Lane, Bentlee, Layton, Ellie Mae, Hali, Chloe, Kysen, and Bo. She is also survived by her brother John Powell and wife Janice, sister Pat Healey, other family members and friends.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held as we pay our final respects and share joyful memories. Friends and family will gather for the service and burial on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Elm Springs Cemetery, near Fair Grove, MO. Let us honor her legacy by coming together to remember the love she freely gave and the warmth she brought into our lives.
