Carolyn Sue Rose, age 74 of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on August 26, 2024, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO. Sue was born to Linden and Jesse Long on March 15, 1950, in Bates County, MO. She attended school in Irwin, Liberal and Jasper, MO, and attended Cottey College in Nevada. Sue was united in marriage to Gene Rose on May 28, 1983, in Deerfield, MO. The couple was blessed with 4 children.
Sue enjoyed being a Mary Kay Consultant for the past 30 years, and a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine ABBA Court, Tulsa, OK, where she held the office of Past High Priestess. Nothing, however, brought her more fulfillment than spending time spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene and Sue owned a small convenience store thru the 90’s, and then Gene’s Marine and Salvage, the past 22 years. Sue loved living on one of her boats for 5 years, before her health started failing.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Linden and Jesse Long, step-mother, Betty Long, step-sister, Lisa Hedgecorth, and daughter, Misty Dawn who passed away shortly after birth in 1973. She is survived by her spouse, Gene Rose; brother, Dayton Long, Grove, OK; sisters, Linda Frieden, Liberal, MO and Judy Bainter, North Kansas City, MO; step-sister, Debbie Mahurin
; daughters, Amy Rose, Grove, OK and Tammy Campbell, Greenfield, MO; sons, Kyle Farmer, Grove, OK and Matt Rose, Liberal, MO; grandchildren, Justin Walker, Miami, OK, Whitney Forst, Lamar, MO, Shantel Green and Mariah Nelson, Joplin, MO, Whitney Bradford, Rogersville, MO; Jordan Sheat, Orlando, FL, Tori Beasley, Everton, MO, Brittany Davis, Salina, OK, Blake Farmer, Joplin, MO, Derek Lively, Grove, OK, Broc Rose, Butler, MO, Courtney Rose, Iantha, MO; 30 ½ great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of Sue’s life will be held at 12:00 pm, Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Kneeland Center, Liberal MO. Memorial donations may be made in Sue’s memory to The Shriners Children’s Hospital. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO
