Cecil Junior Bruton passed away April 2, 2018 in his home after a long, courageous battle with congestive heart failure. Junior was born in Springfield, MO on October16, 1927 to Cecil and Mabel Bruton. He was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters, Joe Ann Brinkley and Virginia Tobin, and two brothers, Laverne and Larry. Junior is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, sister, Kathleen Replogle, two sons; Dennis and wife Melody and Michael and his wife Teresa, grandsons; Jakob, Casey and wife Scarlett, Sean and his wife Alison, and Jevin Shryer, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. “Junior”, as he was known to everyone, was a Korean War veteran who proudly served his country for 2 years with the U.S. Army. Afterwards, he became an over-the-road truck driver for many years before becoming a machinist for Reyco Manufacturing in Springfield, MO. Junior was always known as a homebody. He was always happiest when he was tending to his cattle or working in his garden. He often said that after taking a ship to Korea he lost all ambition to travel. Junior and Barbara have been members of High Street Baptist church for 53 years. There will never be another husband and father like him. He was a born-again Christian, and because of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, we will be with him again. Visitation will be Sat., April 7th, at 9:00am with funeral service at 10:00am, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
