Cheryl Ann Maples, age 61, of Springfield, MO, was called home Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Cox Medical Center South. She was born September 10, 1948, in Tulsa, OK, to James and Lois (Lanning) McCullough. She was a member of the James River Assembly of God. Cheryl graduated from Missouri State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, and received her Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of North Texas. She was an assistant professor at Evangel University for eighteen years, she also taught as an Adjunct faculty at Missouri State and Drury University. Cheryl enjoyed reading and gardening, but her passion was art.
She was preceded in death by her parents James C. and Lois P. McCullough and one brother Robert McCullough. She is survived by her husband Stan Maples of Springfield and one son Alex Maples of the home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at James River Assembly of God with Pastor Tim Keene officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cheryl Maples Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
