He was raised by his father John Phillips and both of his mothers, Sherry Hoffhines and Shawna Phillips. Chris grew up alongside his older brother, John Phillips. Growing up, Chris could always be found wearing a pair of overalls. He learned to fish and ride dirt bikes at an early age and was not afraid to kick up dust along old dirt roads.
Chris had a knack for anything handy, including car repairs and home improvements. He was good at any job he tried and knew how to work hard. Chris had a great love for horses and spent a lot of time with them on his parents’ farm. His family remembers him as a horse whisperer, he was even able to break a stubborn mule.
One of Chris’ best accomplishments are his 5 children: Paige, JD, Amanda, Corbyn and Emma. The children were great blessings to Sherry, John and Shawna. Through his children, Chris brought a lot of love into the world to be shared with his family. His children remember his bright smile and his huge heart. They remember all the stories he had to share and his sense of humor. They know that he always had the best intentions. Chris always wanted the best for others, he would give you anything he had left. Chris is remembered as a loyal friend to many. Chris always had a song in his heart and loved music. He would suggest songs to his nephew, Brady, to learn on the guitar. One of his life’s greatest joys was becoming a grandfather “Grand Pappy,” to Scotty and Journey who were born to his daughter Amanda.
