It is with great sadness that the family of Clara J Peterson (Voigt) announces her passing on June 7, 2022, at the age of 96. Clara was born on July 14, 1925, in Chickasha, OK. Daughter of Joseph and Anne Mahalia Voigt and oldest of four children. Mildred White, Myrtle Gass and Alex Voigt.
Clara will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Paul Peterson, and her children, Cecil Peterson and Carla Larson, along with their fiancé and spouse, Wendy Jackson and David Larson. She was the proud Grandma to one grandson Ryan Peterson.
She believed in hard work and was a “jack of all trades,” She could do about anything she put her mind to. She worked her way through the School of the Ozarks when it was a boarding school. Then moved on to an associate accounting degree. Clara worked outside of the home until her children came into the picture, then devoted herself to family and the farm. Through hard work and determination, she kept the family farm and business moving forward.
Clara enjoyed working in her garden. She would say that she didn’t have a green thumb, but the garden said otherwise. She was easy to talk to. Her husband would joke about her going into Walmart and being gone for hours as she saw friends and they started talking. You didn’t just drop by for a quick visit at her house. You best get comfortable as you will be there for a while. She was always up for a game of cards anytime there were guests over. Rumor and witness may have said she would cheat, but we won’t address that here. In short if you met her, you would remember her, and we hope that all your memories are sweet as that tea she always offered her visitor.
Please join Clara’s family in celebrating her life on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Mt Comfort Cemetery 2376 E Farm Rd 66, Springfield, MO 65803 for graveside services.
