It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Clara Lucille Conrad, who departed this life on April 20, 2025, at the age of 90. Clara was born to Charles Edgar and Freida Glendora (Roush) Fear on March 27, 1935, in Hartford City, Indiana, as the beloved daughter in a large family with 13 siblings. Throughout her life, Clara’s outgoing spirit and compassionate nature left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
She was united in marriage to Doyle Dean Letterman. To this union, three children were born: Cindy, Patrick, and Sandy. This marriage unfortunately ended with the death of Dean in an automobile accident. Clara then met Wriley Guy Conrad. The two were united in marriage on February 14, 1975. Guy always made sure to treat Clara like a queen, and always brought her a dozen red roses on their anniversary.
Clara spent her life dedicated to caring for others, working in special diets at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She touched countless lives through her career in healthcare, always ensuring patients felt nurtured and cared for.
A devoted mother, Clara is survived by her three cherished children: daughter Cindy Myers, son Patrick Letterman, and daughter Sandy Blair. Her love for her family was legendary—she cherished family reunions and eagerly participated in every gathering, sharing laughter, stories, and love with her relatives. Clara’s playful spirit shone through as she often played games and joined in kickball with her grandchildren, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
As a lifelong animal lover, Clara always had a faithful companion by her side, finding joy in the simple moments shared with her beloved pets. Her warmth and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to call her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Doyle Dean Letterman, and Wriley Guy Conrad as well as eleven of her siblings.
Clara is survived by her children Cindy Myers, Patrick Letterman, and Sandy Blair and her husband Randy Blair; her brother, John Fear; six grandchildren, Kyle Woods, Brandy Woods, Shawn Blair, Amanda Blair, Bobby Arnold, and Steven Arnold; as well as seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews other family members and friends.
A funeral service honoring Clara’s life will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, beginning at 3:00-5:00 PM, allowing friends and family to come together and celebrate the beautiful life she led. She will be laid to rest following her funeral service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens
Clara Lucille Conrad’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and the joy of family. As we gather to remember her, we celebrate the wonderful woman who brought so much light into our lives. Though she has departed from this world, her spirit and love will remain forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri.
