Connie Ann Ilkiw, age 60, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Friday, April 15, 2011 in Cox Medical Center South. She was born November 2, 1950, in Springfield, Ohio to Richard and Sarah (Pidcock) Sparrow.
Connie was currently a PhD candidate in Nursing after obtaining her Master’s Degree. She also taught at the Cox School of Nursing and was a team-leader for Oxford Home Healthcare. Connie taught at three different Universities and taught several hundred students in the nursing profession. Connie has left a great legacy in the health care profession and was very well liked by everyone she met.
She loved attending Springfield Cardinals games, where the team and staff were like family to her, and she was an avid collector of baseball memorabilia like coffee cups, ball caps, t-shirts, etc. She also collected all types of turtles and angels. She and Mike loved to travel all over the world, she also loved their dogs, Daisy, Angel, Sam, Bessie, Buster and the two living dogs, Sparky and Sunshine. She and Mike loved to cook together, especially her homemade pizzas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard L. and Sarah L. (Pidcock) Sparrow.
Connie is survived by her husband, Mike Ilkiw, Springfield Mo.; two sisters, Vikki L. Cantrell, Springfield Mo., and Leatha Sue Duncan of St. Charles, Mo.; two brothers, Jim Sparrow of St Charles, Mo., and Rich Sparrow of Popeto, Calif.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 3 p.m., in Greenlawn North Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
