Coyne Wendell Forshee was born July 19. 1933. He was the second child of Coyne B. and Leona M. (Maddy) Forshee. Wendell attended Eagle Elementary and Willard High school.
Wendell was saved at Rose Hill Baptist Church when he was 11 years old, and was still an active member when the Lord called him home. He served as a Deacon at Rose Hill for 45 years, taught classes for more than 30 years, and was church treasurer for over 20 years. He has also served on the board of Rose Hill Cemetery Association since it was incorporated in 1970. He was a Mason and served as master of O‘Sullivan Lodge #7 and as Worthy Patron for the Walnut Grove Eastern Star. He conducted many Masonic funerals.
Wendell and Barbara J. Coble were united in marriage on August 18, 1951. They were privileged to share 65 ears together, and to that union three children were born; Duane Lynn, Dian, and Douglas. Wendell served his country during the Korean conflict in the regular army, and was a supply sergeant for the 593rd engineering supply company in the 6th Armored division.
After returning from the service Wendell was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 30 years. During that time, he held several different jobs: lineman, cable splicer, splicing foreman, facility engineer, repair foreman exchange engineer, right-of-way agent, toll engineer, and manager of engineering. During his career with Southwestern Bell he served as president of the International Right-of -Way Association, chapter five in 1982, and was active in numerous business organizations. He retired in 1986, and he and Barbara lived the life they always wanted. They enjoyed a home on the lake at Galmey Missouri until 2005 where they loved to fish and spend time with good friends.
Wendell and Barbara bought a home in Willard in 2008 and resided there until his passing. He was elected as mayor of Willard in 2013 and served a two-year term before retiring from city service.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, son, Duane Lynn Forshee, grandson, Jeremy DeRossett, and sister, JoAnn Sundquist
Wendell is survived by the love of his life, his wife Barbara, daughter, Dian DeRossett, and her husband Len, son, Douglas Forshee and his wife, Terry, grandchildren Randy DeRossett, and his wife, Elizabeth, Kathy McRee, and her husband, Danny, Seth Forshee and his wife Laura, Chad Forshee and his wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by six great granddaughters who were the apples of his eye: Kinley and Kylie McRee, Savannah and Emily Forshee, Anna and Lilly DeRossett, his brother, Allen Forshee, and his wife, Mary .
Wendell loved his family, friends, and church family. He cherished each day
that God gave him, and is now with his Savior and loved ones who awaited him in that eternal home that God has prepared for him. He now awaits you there.
