With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cynthia Joyce “Cindy” Johnson, beloved sister, and cherished friend. Cynthia was born on October 29, 1957, in Las Cruces, NM, to Virgil Richard Sr. and Lupe (Alvarez) Black, and peacefully left this world on August 28, 2024, at her residence in Dunnegan, MO. She was 66 years old.
Cindy was a woman of strength and resilience, known for her warm smile and compassionate heart. Despite facing life’s challenges, she always approached each day with unwavering determination and a positive outlook. Her dedication as a laborer in the food manufacturing industry at French’s in Springfield, MO, showcased her strong work ethic and commitment to providing for her loved ones.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her surviving relatives, including her loving sister Linda McDonald and brother Irland Black; stepson David Johnson and wife Tammy; five grandchildren: Cody, Sylvia, Chelsey, Michael, and Lucas; four great grandchildren; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Cynthia’s impact on those around her was profound, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and perseverance.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Phillip Johnson; a brother Virgil Black, Jr.; and a niece Samantha Harris, a nephew Deven Harris; and her dog Lapita.
A funeral service to honor the life of Cindy will be held at Pitts Chapel on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 1:00 pm, with visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. The burial ceremony will take place at a later date at Salem Cemetery Cliquot, MO. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Cindy’s life, sharing memories and finding comfort in each other’s presence. Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.
Cindy will be dearly missed but never forgotten, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
