Cynthia Melissa Vaughan-Massey, 70, of Springfield, MO passed away on October 9, 2024. Cyndi was known to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Nana or Nannie.  She will be remembered by family and friends for her generous nature and for the multitude of handmade quilts that she made over the years.  She was a devout Christian in her later years and had a great relationship with God.  She was inspired by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they gave her new life. She attended a variety of schools during her early years and finished her academic career at Central High school in Springfield, MO. She enjoyed spending time fishing with anyone that would go with her or take her. She had a variety of jobs during her life.  She was a stay-at-home mom when Chris, Jennifer and James were young.  She spent time as a waitress in the 70’s and early 80’s.  She was the bartender/manager at Casey’s bar and grill during the mid 80’s into the early 90’s. During the 2000’s as health permitted she would attend elderly during their later years. She was a compassionate and caring soul. 

Cyndi was born on July 13, 1954 in Kentucky to James and Betty Vaughan. She was the 4th child of 13.  She is preceded in death by both parents, brothers Wade Vaughan, Douglas Vaughan, and sisters Anne Vaughan, Catherine Vaughan & husband Richard Massey.  She is survived by siblings Jay (w. Valerie), Clayton, Haydon, Kenny (w. Tammy), Grace Gentz, Clifton, Martha Buckley (h. Chub) and Dayle (Tinya), her children, daughter Catherine Melissa Bethurem, son Christopher & Sabrina Ard, daughter Jennifer Lynn Ard, and son/nephew Richard Vaughan.  Her beloved grandchildren, Angela Grant (Tanner Grant), Samatha Tindle, James Tindle, Elizabeth Bethurem (Dakota Fenton), Madison Ard (Sage Whiting), Samuel Ard and Christian Ard, her great-granddaughters, Myssa Melissa & Emberlee Elizabeth, one great-grandson, Caden. And a multitude of bonus children that either called her mom or nana.
