David A. Buckley

August 1, 1958 - October 14, 2017

David Allen Buckley 59, Springfield, Mo. passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017, after a long illness with cancer. He was born on August 1, 1958, to J W and Phyllis Jean (Miller) Buckley.He was preceded in death by his father, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant, retiring after 22 years of service. He was a life-long member of the College Street Baptist Church.
David is survived by his mother Phyllis Buckley, his sister, Barbara (Buckley) Johnson, many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m.Thursday, October 19, 2017, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will be at a later time in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society. There will be no visitation or viewing.

I just learned David and Barbara have passed and I’m feeling incredibly sad. David was my half brother through our Mother. I met him once when he was 18 and he was quiet and uncomfortable. I was 28 at the time with two sons. Oddly enough, he and my middle son served in Korea and Ft. Hood. I regret that he and I never had any relationship. I own half of the responsibility because I could have tried harder. I wish peace to those who loved him. He will remain in my prayers.
