David Arthur Horr, age 82, of Springfield, MO, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 in his home with his family around him.
He was born December 18, 1928, in Portland, Maine, to Joseph and Evelyn Horr. He was a member of the West Division Street Baptist Church where he played the piano for many years. He served in the U.S. United States Army and Navy, playing in the U.S. Navy Band. David also attended New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. David retired from the State of Missouri in 1992 after 13 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Evelyn Horr; and one brother, Kenneth Horr.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Sylvia Horr of Springfield, MO; five children, David Arthur Johnson and wife Brandie of Hays KS, Timothy Scott Horr of Lodi CA., Daniel Horr and wife Carolyn of Springfield, James Horr of Springfield, Rebecca Tobin of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Carolyn Peterson of Westbrook Maine; and one neice Martha DeCesere of St. Jospeh Maine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m, Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in West Division Street Baptist Church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2011 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
