David Howard Mathews, a decorated veteran of the Vietnam era. Dave moved here from PA and resided with his wife Donna Akin Mathews in Springfield. He passed away at home on December 26, 2024, after an illness of several months. Dave completed 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. His grumpiness was easily abated by his smile, he was dearly loved.
Dave’s love of life was unmatched. He was entertaining and his opinion, he was always willing to openly share, you just had to ask him. You didn’t use the D word around him, because he was a proud Republican. He lived by the motto serve God, love your country, and stand and salute the flag.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be at 11 am, Friday January 3, 2025, at Greenlawn Funeral North with a visitation from 10 am to 11 am, interment will follow at 1 pm in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
