David John Makatchie, age 79, of Springfield, MO passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 surrounded by his family. Dave was born on June 7, 1942 to Ethel Makatchie in Philadelphia, PA. He was married to Diane Makatchie for 22 years and from that union he was blessed with 6 children. His 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren helped to fill his life with joy and he was a very proud Pop Pop. He is preceeded in death by his granddaughter, Alivia and his mother, Ethel.
Family was the most important thing in his life. He was a proud 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus in both Missouri and Delaware. Dave was very involved in his church from the annual Fish Fry to the Tootsie Roll Drive and his fellow knights knew they could always count on Dave and his hard work ethic. He found peace by the water as he collected shells or took a walk on the boardwalk in New Jersey or spending the day relaxing at Moonshine Beach in Branson, MO. He loved helping his children with their gardens and working on their property’s together. Dave had a presence that could be felt the minute he walked into a room and he never knew a stranger. We were all blessed to know and love him.
