David Lee Chambers was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 23, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale E. and Mavis I. (Beck) Chambers, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly (Long) Chambers.
He is survived by LaVona (Hightower) Chambers, his wife of fifty-nine years; son, Scott and daughter, Julie; grandchildren Nicholas Chambers, Madison Chambers and Samantha Ward; and great-grandchildren, Mykal and Belle. He is also survived by his brother, Stan and his wife Pam, his sister, Carol (Chambers) and her husband Lowell Douglas; brother-in-law, Larry Hightower and his wife, Denise Cross. Other survivors include Chelsea Ward, Leanna Hampton, Adam Mobley and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
David graduated from Lebanon High School in 1960 and received a degree in Civil Engineering from Rolla School of Mines in 1965. Upon completing his formal education, he began working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineering. His duty stations included Kansas City, Virginia, Saudi Arabia and the headquarters in Washington D.C. He retired after thirty-nine and one-half years of dedicated service. He also proudly served as a member of the National Guard. Upon retirement, he and his family moved back to Missouri to be close to family.
David accepted Christ as his Savior at age twelve. He and LaVona were faithful members of South Gate Baptist Church in Springfield where he served as a deacon and Life Group teacher.
He treasured time with family and friends and enjoyed quail, duck and geese hunting, surf fishing in Ocean City, Maryland, the Kansas City Chiefs and watching Westerns.
Services will be held on Monday, December 1st at South Gate Baptist Church 5701 S. Farm Road 157, Springfield, Missouri with visitation at 1:00 p.m. and a celebration of life immediately following at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Bridge of Faith Community Church

Our hearts are broken today, but what a wonderful promise we have as Christians, to know we will meet again.
