David R. Mathis

June 7, 1946 - January 19, 2017

David R. Mathis born in Niangua, Missouri passed away at the age of 70 in Springfield on January 19, 2017. He retired from Sweetheart/Solo Cups after 45 years. He proudly served his country in the Army in Vietnam. He is preceded in death by parents Roy and Jewell Mathis, sisters Mary, Virginia, Lena, and brother Dale. He is survived by wife Sharon, daughters Kim, Marcy, Crystal, and Angie. His brother Bill, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and special friends from “Grumpy’s”. Graveside services will be on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 10:00 am at Mathis Cemetery in Niangua. To send condolences online go to Greenlawn Funeral Home website. Dave was an awesome step-father. He always treated me as if I was his biological daughter. He was Papa to my children Rachel and Randall. Circumstances had pulled us apart, but thought of him often.
