On Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, Debi L. Phillips was escorted to Heaven by her Lord Jesus at the vibrant young age of 49. She left this world unexpectedly and will be truly missed by her family and many friends.
After graduation from Fordland High School, Debi attended the Graphic Design program at Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield, Missouri. As a talented artist, she quickly landed a position at a local marketing company where she met the love of her life, Clay A. Phillips. The two were married 25 years ago in Daytona Beach Florida and they began their lives together in Fair Grove, Missouri.
As motivated Entrepreneurs, Debi and Clay soon started their own business, Vital Images Incorporated. Together they published Your New Home Magazine as well as many Springfield surrounding area merchant directories. Debi had a knack for event planning and organized the Fair Grove Heritage Festival from 2016 – 2019. She also coordinated the Fair Grove Farmers Market at the pavilion for two years.
While Debi’s passion was her business, she also had many other hobbies and interests. She enjoyed landscaping, painting, playing golf with friends, and floating on the river with Clay and their 100 pound Labradoodle. Debi loved her Kansas City Chiefs and hosting Chiefs football parties. Debi and Clay designed and built their dream home on a hilltop overlooking a spectacular view of the Fair Grove countryside, and they spent many enjoyable evenings together in their backyard, Debi often enjoying a glass of Riverboat Red.
One of Debi’s favorite sayings, “Seize the Day!” was representative of how she lived every day of her life. One certainly never knew what she was going to say next, and she rarely held anything back. She brought so many laughs and so much joy to everyone around her and she will be very much missed.
Debi will be honored on April 13, 2021 in a short graveside ceremony at 3:00 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3506 North National, Springfield Missouri. Following the ceremony will be a Celebration of Life at the Springfield Golf and Country Club, 3106 East Valley Watermill Road, Springfield Missouri from 04:00 – 06:00 pm.
