Della Ann Nelson, 94, our precious Mother, passed away October 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving children.
Della was born April 9,1929 in Ash Grove, Missouri to Roscoe and Nora Branam.
She was married to the love of her life, Hutson Vencene Nelson, on July 18, 1944. They were blessed with seventy-two beautiful years together. Della was a Christian woman who cherished God and family above all else. She could pray like an angel and if in need people would contact her to pray for them and their families. She loved her church family and was one of the longest members of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church.
Della worked for the Dayco Rubber Plant in the1960’s. Della and Hutson retired to the farm in Republic where they enjoyed raising cattle, gardening, and each other. She and Hutson enjoyed motor home travel owning five different motor homes throughout their retirement. They were members of the Hillbilly Rollers club where they made lots of friends and had great fun. They were snowbirds and spent many winters on the southern border.
Of all the things we could say about Della, nothing was more important than the love she had for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She taught her children with Christian values, to respect others, and the love of family above all else. She will be greatly missed.
Della was preceded in death by her husband Hutson Vencene; parents; one son, Sgt. Rickie Vencene Nelson, USMC; sisters, Arletta Gilmore, and Jean Sowards. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Robertson and husband Rodney, son Randy Nelson and wife Cheryl, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday October 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with services on Tuesday October 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn East Funeral Home, burial to follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Heart Association or charity of choice.
